The methods which are used to correct and repair the buttock augmentation are called Gluteoplasty. These procedures are done to repair a patient's particular defect or deformity of the gluteal region. Gluteoplasty can be done in two main methods, surgical and nonsurgical.
We want to discuss different methods of Gluteoplasty in this article.
Who is a good candidate for buttock augmentation?
• You are physically healthy
• You have realistic expectations
• You are bothered by the feeling that your butt is too small
• You are unhappy with the roundness or general shape of your butt
• Your butt is asymmetrical
Different methods of Gluteoplasty:
1.Gluteal implants:
If you want to augment the buttocks it can be done with a gluteal implant. During surgery, the plastic surgeon will make a midline incision (about 5 to 8 wide) and then put implants under each gluteus maximus muscle. Implants are the most effective method for enlarging the buttocks. Because of the cutting (incising) into the flesh of the tailbone muscles, the healing process will last about 6 to 8 months. The procedure can be done under general anesthesia or local anesthesia and sometimes with sedation. The procedure lasts for two hours at least. Depending on the surgeon's idea you will receive an overnight in-patient treatment or as a hospital outpatient treatment. You may feel different degrees of pain during 4 to 6 weeks and after which the patient resumes his or her normal life activities.
2.Poly-l-lactic acid (Sculptra butt lift)
Poly-l-lactic acid is a type of dermal filler
(biocompatible biodegradable synthetic polymer from the alpha-hydroxy-acid family).
One vial of this filler contains 367.5 g of the Poly-l-lactic acid itself combined with 4 mL of sterile water and 1 mL of lidocaine.
Because fillers are collagen stimulators, they increase collagen production. The collagen wraps around particles in the body that would naturally break down, causing the area of injection to grow over time. Like all medical procedures, these types of filler injections have their risks like nodules, granuloma, swelling, bruising, redness, edema, discomfort, hematoma, and inflammation.
These mostly happen because it's a foreign substance.
3.Lipoinjection
These augmentation and contouring are done by transferring autologous fat (lipo injection) which comes from excess adipose-fat tissue harvested from the abdomen, flanks, and thighs of the patient. The excess fat is harvested by liposuction then it is injected into the pertinent body area of the gluteal region. This injection is done through a small incision which makes a narrow scar. The risk of inflammation and the possibility of tissue rejection is very less in this procedure because the fat is from the patient's body fat. It's a minor procedure so patients will back to their daily, normal-life activities at 2-days post-operative. Some of the injected fat will be breaking down and eliminate bypassing time and so might diminish the augmentation. In this method, patients might need extra sessions of fat injections to achieve the desired size, shape, and contour of the buttocks.
4.Body contouring
This procedure is done to augmentation the buttocks by rearranging and enhancing muscle and fat tissues of the gluteal region. In patients with massive body loss (bariatric surgery), degree of gluteal-muscle ptosis (polarisation, falling forward) and ...the combination of methods of surgery
(subcutaneous dermal-fat flaps) and liposculpture (fat-suction, fat-injection) are done.
Risk factors of Gluteoplasty:
• Anesthesia risks
• Asymmetries
• Bleeding (hematoma)
• Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications
• Fatty tissue under the skin might die (fat necrosis)
• Fluid accumulation (seroma)
• Infection
• Numbness or other changes in skin sensation
• Pain, which may persist
• Poor wound healing
• Possible need for revisionary surgery
• Recurrent looseness of skin
• Skin discoloration and/or prolonged swelling
• Skin loss
• Sutures may spontaneously surface through the skin, become visible or produce irritation and require removal
• Unfavorable scarring
