The results of studies show that taking vitamin A improves the sense of smell of people who have had Covid-19 disease. Loss of sense of smell is one of the most common symptoms of Covid-19 disease, but even before the outbreak of coronavirus, other viruses cause people to lose their sense of smell. Many people's sense of smell improves naturally after a few weeks, but sometimes this problem persists for longer.
According to statistics, about one-tenth of people who lost their sense of smell due to Covid-19 disease did not recover after four weeks of illness. Researchers believe that the loss of the sense of smell is a very big problem, which increases the risk of depression and anxiety. People who lose their sense of smell may experience severe weight loss due to decreased appetite.
A team of researchers conducted a new study to evaluate the effect of vitamin A on improving the sense of smell of people who have improved with Covid-19 disease, and evaluated people who lost their sense of smell due to coronavirus infection. Participants in this study were divided into two groups and the first group used vitamin A nasal drops.
The results of the study showed that the number of people who used vitamin A nasal drops and their sense of smell improved was twice as many as the other group who did not use this drop. Since the loss of the sense of smell has a significant effect on the quality of life of people, it is necessary to conduct more studies in this area to confirm the results.
